Healing Powers
Crystal healing in concept utilizes and harnesses the energetic properties of crystals to influence an energy field and restore it to a coherent vibrational pattern. The way that crystals are structured not only allows them to respond to the energies around them, but their innate geometric shape causes an accumulation and flow of health enhancing negative ions. Crystals are so balanced in their complexity that the energy they emit is fundamentally stable. So much so that when they recieve discordant energy they have the ability to return it to a harmonized state. The diversity and variety of crystals have been known throughout history to offer specific benefits and healing powers.
Environmental Impact
How do these incredible mineral specimens make their way into the marketplace in such variety, size and quality? And are they harvested with conscience? Most crystals and precious gems are the byproducts of industrial mining and therefore not mined intentionally. Contamination of groundwater, soil, air and the destruction of lands are just a few of the disappointing legacies left behind. Then there is child labor, a savage byproduct of mining in Third World countries. Importers generally buy from dealers and not directly from the mines where the labor occurs. And while some importers claim to be Fair Trade, they are often only referring to the working conditions of the factory carvers. Fortunately though, in developed and developing countries, there are now strict regulations controlling the mining industry which are helping to prevent and offset some of the environmental disasters as well as to transform previous mining sites into recreational areas. In general, quartz and amethyst tend to be available with fewer environmental concerns. Additionally, there are many options for harvesting stones at smaller sustainable mines around the world.
